Eyes on the road!

Although some say the traffic cameras TDOT installed recently in Knoxville smack of Orwellian realization, I think it's going to be great to see what I can look forward to getting stuck in before I actually leave the house. The public site only offers still frames, while the streaming video is reserved for Big Brother. TDOT says they will not be used for traffic enforcement and footage will not be recorded to avoid the inevitable onslaught of attorneys' evidence requests relating to accidents. Personally, I can't believe they would have spent all that money on them(the cameras can even swivel 360 degrees and are operated by remote!) just to allow us to see pretty pictures of I-40. But then maybe that's just the paranoia talking. I'll just shut up now before the censors shut my blog down. Here come the helicopters!
