Home at last!

Hello loyal blogreaders, the Wizard is back on the airwaves again. I apologize for the lack of posts recently, but I am sure you will forgive my absence considering that we have a three day old baby at home. I suppose I have a great deal of info to catch you up on so I better get to it. Wifey is doing well and starting to feel better after her surgery. Surgery? Yes, our beautiful baby daughter was brought into this world via caesarian section due to some elevated risk to the baby. Everything was progressing well, but Annabelle was not recovering as well as she could have between contractions and the doctor was concerned for her safety. We decided that the best course of action was to insure that both Wifey and the baby were as safe as possible and we moved into the OR for the operation. I was a little hesitant and apprehensive because I have been known to be a little squeamish around blood and needles, but I sucked it up and dressed out in hospital scrubs to be near my love and support my family. The operation went smoothly and we heard our first child crying almost immediately after it began. I got to hold her while the doctors stitched Wifey back together and I even got a peek at her inner workings without passing out. I guess fatherhood gives you strength and fortitude you never knew you had inside. Wifey had to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation and several friends stopped by to share in the newfound joy. Wifey's parents, heretofore referred to as Nana and Granddad, were awesome and invaluable in their help and support. On Friday Granddad and I headed to the house to prepare for the imminent arrival of the females. We spent most of the day completing the assorted repair jobs that remained and before we knew it, we were heading to the hospital to pick up our ladies. We loaded up in the family car for the first time and drove carefully home(now there is precious cargo on board). We showed Annabelle to her room and by all accounts she approved of all our decorating. She had been incredibly quiet for the first days in the hospital, but once we got her home she wanted to let the whole neighborhood know she was finally there. The only thing that seemed to quiet her was her mother's breast and she made full use of it. She has an incredibly strong sucking reflex and likes to flaunt it constantly. The pediatricians have given her a clean bill of health and she is growing and changing everyday. We spent today relaxing and cuddling with our fresh cutie and she has calmed considerably. Cassidy seems to be adjusting wonderfully and has been gently curious with our daughter. Sasha is still a little standoffish, but I am sure he will come around soon. Granddad goes home tomorrow and Nana will be staying on to help us adjust for a while, thank goodness. Everything is starting to fall into a rhythm and we are even getting a little sleep here and there. I will be posting more as circumstances permit and in the meantime, here are some pictures to amuse, entertain, and delight. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and hearts!
